Legend has it that a cafe tucked in the basement of an shopping center uses Guala Melaka for its coffee and tea...

Located in the basement of City Square mall, tucked between Singtel and Homefix store, one might easily miss out on Kopi and Tarts.

But don't be fooled by the small shop front.  Take a tour inside the cafe and you would be surprised by the amount of people they can pack.

Kopi & Tarts dishes out a wide variety of snacks, from sweet stuffs such as chocolate/blue berry tarts and apple puff till savory stuff such as cheese tarts and chicken pie/curry puff to marry it with their legendary cup of coffee/tea.

Their variety doesn't end there though.  For those who haven't taken their lunch/dinner but are craving for their legendary coffee can have the best of the both world.  Kopi & Tarts serves main too!  Soy Braised Chicken/Luncheon Meat Noodles with egg anybody???

What's so legendary: Guala Melaka in Coffee!!!

Guala Melaka is a tasty dense and sticky palm sugar that originate from Malacca.  It is often used in Perenakan cuisine such as the famous Chendol, ondeh-ondeh and new fusion cuisine in place of maple syrup on hot cakes.

Kopi and Tarts added Gualal Melaka into their coffee/tea in place of sugar.  Guala Melaka is not just a sugar though. Take sip of their coffee and you notice that a fragrant that accentuate the coffee.  Take a bite of tart or puff to go along with it and in no time, you would realized that you have finished your meal.

Things to take note: It is halal certified and there are 5 branches till date, Hurray!!!!

Good news people!!!  The cafe is halal certified, meaning, everyone can eat here! On top of that, there are 5 branches over the island!!!

But personally for me, i prefer the City Square branch. ; )
