1.Meet Paul Aka Fish Man

Legend has it at small corner of a coffeeshop in Tanjong Pagar, lies one of the few store in nation that sells Deep Sea Fishes.  Not only are the fishes unique, the side dishes are special and appetising...Meet Paul...

7 Tanjong Pagar Plaza Coffeeshop, #01-105

Come Tanjong Pagar and one must definitively Meet Paul literally, ;). Situated at Blk.7 Tanjong Pagar Plaza Level 1 Coffee Shop, with a kinky logo on the top, Fish Man! One can guess what type of savoury delicacy they can dish out.

What is a Halibut?

The Halibut is an interesting deep sea flat-fish that at birth, have an eye on each side of the head, and swim like a salmon. After six months, one eye migrates to the other side, making them look more like flounder.

Though the fish don't look so appetising, don't be fool by its appearance.  The halibut can be a delicacy and has low-fat content.  By itself, if cooked appropriately, the fish would have a clean smell and firm texture.   Over at Meet Paul, they deep-fried the halibut and served it together with a sourish sweet sauce that complements the taste of the meat.

Restaurant standard chicken chop at Hawker price, $5.50 onli!!!

For those not into fishes or halibut, there is still more surprise in for you.  For $5.50*, you will be treated to a black-pepper chicken chop that is well marinated with a yummy, stimulating appetising sauce.  I once brought one of my skeptical friend there to eat and he leaves the place drinking up all the gravy.

*prices accurate as dated

2.Ping Jie He Bao Hor Fun

Legend has it that in the last row of Tanjong Pagar Plaza Cooked Food Center lies a stall which sells herbal hor fun. They also said that the fillings in the dumpling are made of fish instead of the conventional pork.

Situated at a remote corner, first row of stalls facing the main road of Tanjong Pagar Plaza Market Level 2 parked a very unique, yummy and special stall that you die die have to visit when you are around the area.

The one and only fried fish dumpling (Disclaimer in 2017, hehe ; ) )

There are 2 reasons that made it legendary! One the yummy fried FISH dumpling! Yes, throw radish and fish into a dumpling and you have one yummy, crispy and cruncy dumpling to go with your Hor Fun.

Herbal Soup Stock

That's not all! The soup stock of the Hor Fun is very very unique. My first and only encounter of Hor Fun that is herbal, with the addition of WolfBerries! Yummy!!!! For your info, according to TCM, Wolf Berries are a good supplement to the eyes. So if your eyes are feeling tired. You know where to go ; )

3. Yong Tau Foo @ 100AM KOFU

Legend has it that in the food-court of 100AM; Kofu, lies a Yong Tau Foo stall that deep-fried on the spot, maintaining its crispiness and freshness.

Level 4, Kofu Food Court

There is another hidden gem in Tanjong Pagar, when it goes to one of the best Yong Tau Foo in Town. It is situated in a very unexpected place though;the food court.

Yes i just mentioned the food court, Kofu. Can't believe it right, it is at the highest level of the shopping center.

To PMETs working in the area, Tanjong Pagar is a Yong Tau Foo paradise, there was once 3 Yong Tau Foo stalls in the area (this stall, the one opposite banana leaf and at level), each with their own strengths and weakness.

To me, i am in love with the Kofu one and the stall opposite banana leaf. Too bad, the only stall that withstand the test of time is the one at Kofu. Which i am still gladly to settle on for the time being.

The fried ingredient is fried on the spot

Now, it comes to the point of what makes it so legendary. This stall is one of the first i knew which fried the fried ingredient on the spot instead of dumping the fried stuff into the soup to be served with non-fried stuff. This makes the fried ingredient, fresh, crispy and yummy to munch on.

And to me, among all the fried stuff, i will always order the following below plus the shitake mushrooms.

Wide Assortment of Yong Tau Foo Ingredient

Besides of the fried ingredients, there are many ingredients to choose from as seen in the picture
below. From the tau foo products to the amazing range of vegetables to choose from. And trust me, their food are pretty fresh so far. So this is one stall you should not miss out ;)
